Series: Posebna izdanja (Vizantološki institut (Srpska akademija nauka i umetnosti)) ; Vol. 39

This book is based on the importance of the first all-that of journey to Palestine Save the architecture and frescoes. The book consists in two parts. The initial part deals with the first pilgrimage to the Holy Land by St. Sava, the first Serbian archbishop. The two Lives of St. Sava give an account of this pilgrimage. The first was written by his pupil hieromonk Domentijan (probably in 1242/1243), and the second was the work of the monk of Hilandar Teodosije (around 1300). What is more, several topographical and prosopographical details, as well as the details regarding Sava's attitude to the particular shrines (his liturgical services, gifts to the clergy, etc.) to point to the conclusion that Domentijan was a direct participant in the first Serbian archbishop's journey to Palestine.
